Our client, a well-established and highly regarded law firm in Leeds, is seeking a talented solicitor to join their expanding Industrial Disease team. About the Role
As an Industrial Disease Solicitor, you'll manage your own caseload of complex industrial disease claims, with a particular focus on asbestos-related litigation. You'll work alongside a dedicated team of specialists, providing expert legal advice to clients who have suffered life-changing injuries through workplace exposure. Key Responsibilities
• Manage a diverse caseload of industrial disease claims, including asbestos-related diseases (mesothelioma, asbestosis, lung cancer) and other occupational illnesses
• Conduct thorough investigations, legal research, and prepare court documents and pleadings
• Negotiate settlements with defendants and insurers to achieve optimal outcomes for clients
• Provide high-quality legal advice and representation throughout the litigation process
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, delivering exceptional levels of client care
• Supervise and mentor junior solicitors and paralegals within the Industrial Disease team
• Contribute to business development initiatives, identifying growth opportunities and supporting marketing activities
Essential Requirements
• Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales with a current practising certificate
• Minimum 2 years' PQE in Industrial Disease litigation (asbestos-related claims experience highly desirable)
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex industrial disease cases from inception to conclusion
• Strong technical knowledge of personal injury law, limitation periods, and relevant case law
• Excellent client care skills with the ability to handle sensitive and emotional cases with empathy
• Strong negotiation and advocacy skills
• Ability to supervise and develop junior team members
• Proficiency in case management systems and Microsoft Office
