About Us

Birmingham City Football Club is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Rehabilitation Physiotherapist to join our Men's First Team medical department. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in the delivery of elite physiotherapy services, supporting player health, recovery, and performance across all aspects of the football programme.

The successful candidate will lead on the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of injured players, ensuring world-class care throughout the return-to-play process. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to the Club's ongoing commitment to excellence in player performance and wellbeing.

The Role

The Rehabilitation Physiotherapist will be responsible for designing and delivering comprehensive rehabilitation programmes, guiding players from acute injury through to full return-to-play. You will work closely with the medical, performance, and coaching teams to optimise recovery timelines and ensure the highest standards of care.

This role requires strong clinical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide physiotherapy services including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and prevention for Men's First Team players
  • Manage acute and chronic injuries through the creation and delivery of individualised rehabilitation plans
  • Utilise performance and medical data to monitor return-to-play progression
  • Deliver on-field reconditioning and readiness testing in collaboration with the performance team
  • Provide pitch-side medical support at training sessions and matches, home and away
  • Collaborate closely with coaching, sports science, and strength & conditioning staff to align rehabilitation and performance strategies
  • Support alignment with the Academy medical team, particularly for Academy players training or playing with the Men's First Team
  • Educate players on injury prevention, body mechanics, and physical maintenance
  • Maintain accurate and compliant medical documentation and player records
  • Stay up to date with the latest research and best practice in sports medicine and physiotherapy
  • Mentor and support other physiotherapists and medical staff within the department

About You

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced physiotherapist who is passionate about elite sport and committed to driving player performance through world-class rehabilitation. You will be hands-on, adaptable, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Essential

  • Proven ability to assess, diagnose, and rehabilitate musculoskeletal injuries
  • Strong understanding of sports-specific physiotherapy techniques and evidence-based rehabilitation
  • Experience leading on-field rehabilitation and return-to-play testing
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to perform under pressure and meet performance demands

Desirable

  • Experience as a Senior Physiotherapist in an elite football environment
  • Additional qualifications in sports rehabilitation, biomechanics, or strength and conditioning
  • Experience using injury prevention technologies such as GPS, performance testing, and monitoring systems

What We Offer

  • 37.5 hours per week (flexibility required)
  • 20 days' holiday rising to 25 with service, plus 8 bank holidays
  • Up to 6 months' probation period
  • Competitive salary and benefits
