Are you a proven leader in digital engineering, ready to shape the future of technology at The AA? We're looking for a dynamic and inclusive Head of Digital Engineering to lead our digital transformation journey, driving innovation, productivity, and excellence across our mobile and web platforms.

As Head of Digital Engineering, you'll be accountable for the technical delivery and evolution of all digital platforms and capabilities. You'll lead a high-performing team, championing the adoption of AI and automation to enhance the software development lifecycle and customer outcomes.

You'll work closely with senior stakeholders across Product, Architecture, Data, AI, and the wider COO to ensure our digital solutions are robust, scalable, and aligned with strategic goals.

What will I be doing?
  • Lead and develop a diverse engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Oversee the design, build, and deployment of digital solutions across mobile and web platforms.
  • Drive engineering productivity through AI, automation, and modern DevOps practices.
  • Shape technical strategy and architecture in alignment with business objectives.
  • Manage supplier relationships and ensure high-quality delivery across onshore and offshore teams.
  • Engage and influence senior stakeholders, contributing to roadmap planning and programme delivery.
What do I need?
  • Proven experience operating at 'Head of' level, with strong line management and leadership of complex engineering programmes.
  • Demonstrated success in transforming engineering teams, modernising legacy systems, and embedding agile and product-led practices.
  • Deep cloud engineering expertise particularly in AWS, Azure also valued, across both mobile and web platforms.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with a focus on driving productivity, delivery alignment, and roadmap execution.
  • Strategic thinker with commercial acumen and a track record of delivering impactful, scalable digital solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with modern technologies and tools including Angular, Flutter, AWS, APIs, and Jira.
