Syndicate Actuarial Director

Invecta is delighted to have been retained to secure a Syndicate Actuarial Director to lead all actuarial activity across a growing Lloyd's platform. This is a high-impact role covering pricing, capital, reserving, portfolio insight and reinsurance strategy, with strong influence across underwriting and senior committees.

This is a fast-growing business, writing diverse insurance and reinsurance across property, specialty and bespoke economic/credit classes. This role offers broad exposure, meaningful decision-making influence and leadership opportunities within a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shape and deliver the actuarial strategy for the syndicate.
  • Lead analysis supporting risk appetite, pricing, portfolio trends, capital optimisation and reserving.
  • Oversee pricing model development, adequacy monitoring and reporting.
  • Review and challenge capital and reserving proposals.
  • Partner with Reinsurance, Exposure Management and Capital teams on exposure and reinsurance optimisation.
  • Provide investor insights and manage actuarial-related regulatory interactions.
  • Contribute to underwriting, reserving and capital committees.
  • Foster a high-performance, inclusive team culture and mentor junior team members.

You will be a qualified actuary with broad experience across pricing, capital, reserving or related areas. Be able to combine technical analysis with commercial judgement. Possess strong communication skills with experience of presenting to committees. Be comfortable working with large, complex or limited datasets. Being proactive, analytical, detail-driven and able to prioritise are all significant in this role.

Prior experience could have been obtained within a risk carrier, consultancy, MGA or broker.
