Head of Legal & COLP

Mayfair, London | Boutique Law Firm | Post-Merger Integration

Following the recent merger of two established legal practices, a newly formed boutique law firm based in Mayfair is seeking to appoint a Head of Legal & Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP) to lead the firm's legal governance, regulatory compliance, and post-merger integration.

Role Overview

The Head of Legal & COLP will play a central role in shaping the firm's internal legal framework, ensuring regulatory integrity and operational cohesion during a period of strategic realignment. The position combines both strategic oversight and hands-on leadership, working closely with the Managing Partners and the Executive Committee to embed a culture of excellence, accountability, and compliance across all practice areas.

Key Responsibilities


• Lead the design and implementation of governance, compliance, and risk management frameworks across the firm.


• Serve as the firm's principal liaison with the SRA and oversee all regulatory reporting and obligations.


• Develop and enforce internal policies, systems, and controls supporting ethical and professional standards.


• Support the integration of teams, practices, and processes following the merger, ensuring a consistent and cohesive operational structure.


• Advise the Partnership on legal risk, professional conduct, and strategic compliance matters.

Candidate Profile


• Qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with extensive experience in corporate practice.


• Demonstrable expertise in regulatory compliance, professional standards, and governance, preferably with prior experience as a COLP.


• Strong leadership, communication, and organisational capabilities.


• Proven ability to operate effectively within a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment while maintaining the highest professional standards.
