About the role: The Social Care Workforce Development Officer worker will play a key role in the development and implementation of social work practice improvement strategies. Supporting the Principal Social worker/ Head of Service Practice improvement they will focus on enhancing the quality of services provided to families by embedding a strengths-based, relational approach to practice, prioritising direct work with families and enabling evidence-based interventions. Key responsibilities will include the development and implementation of Waltham Forest's workforce strategy, including developing our current approach to relational practice models and supporting the implementation of systemic practice. This will include the organisation and commissioning of training programmes, alongside cultural programmes to ensure take-up our workforce and cultural development offer is embedded in the service. The role will work closely with HR and the Principal Social worker on the Council's aim of being the best place to be a social worker in London, and will lead on a range of initiatives to inspire and encourage the next generation of new, permanent social workers to join the council. Additionally, the role will lead on the delivery of the ASYE programme in its entirety, including the social worker recruitment and placements process, supporting colleagues on their placement and leading on developing the programme objectives of continuous improvement. This is an important role that not only promotes a way of working that ensures quality and compliance with statutory duties, but champions strength-based child centered approaches to social care practice.
