**ENGINEERING MANAGER REQUIRED**

As our business continues to expand, we're excited to offer an opportunity for a
proactive and experienced Engineering Manager
to join our leadership team.

In this key role, you'll lead, develop, and inspire a talented engineering team, driving technical excellence, fostering collaboration, and promoting a strong safety culture built on clear and proactive communication.

We're looking for someone with hands-on experience in
automatic entrance systems, (i
ncluding roller shutters, doors, gates, and barriers), and the leadership qualities to motivate our enginnering team, enhance performance, and champion continuous improvement across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Development

· Lead, motivate, and develop the engineering team to achieve high performance, quality, and safety standards.

· Maintain and update the Training Matrix to track progress, skills, and competency levels.

· Ho regular team meetings, check-ins, and toolbox talks to strengthen communication and engagement.

· Promote a positive, accountable, and growth-oriented team culture.

· Support apprentices and junior engineers through mentorship and structured development.

· Actively contribute as part of the management team, supporting continuous improvement and decision-making with senior managers.

Operational Management

· Work closely with the Helpdesk to optimise scheduling and improve communication between engineers and office teams.

· Work closely with the Engineering Supervisor, Managing Director, and the Service Support Manager to strengthen relationships between field and office staff, fostering a unified and connected environment.

· Provide technical support and guidance to engineers and office staff.

· Duty Manager (1 in 4 weeks): handle out-of-hours calls remotely, offering technical assistance and authorising engineer callouts when necessary.

Project Leadership & Field Work

· Act as Lead Engineer on major installations and projects, ensuring work meets technical and safety standards.

· Manage project delivery for high-profile customers, maintaining strong on-site relationships.

· Conduct meetings/ site visits for potential customers and works, supporting Sales Relationship Manger, provide technical assessments, and client development.

· Participate in complex installations or repairs when needed, offering hands-on leadership.

· Be willing to travel as required to support projects, team development, and customer engagement.

Quality, Health & Safety

· Ensure all works meet company quality and safety standards.

· Oversee RAMS, quality control, and safe working practices for engineers and subcontractors.

· Hold or be willing to obtain IOSH/NEBOSH certification (training provided).

· Encourage a strong culture of safety awareness and compliance.

Subcontractor & Technical Management

· Manage and commission subcontractors for larger projects, ensuring skill alignment and quality delivery.

· Negotiate terms and monitor compliance with company standards.

· Maintain a strong working knowledge of at least one core discipline (doors, shutters, gates, barriers) and show willingness to broaden expertise across all areas, particularly Health & Safety.

· Ensure compliance with EN16005, DHF, and other relevant industry standards.

Requirements:

· Proven experience in an engineering leadership or senior supervisory role.

· Strong knowledge of industrial access systems (doors, shutters, gates, barriers).

· Willingness to broaden expertise beyond their core area and learn other disciplines within automatic entrance systems, particularly Health & Safety and compliance standards.

· Experience with RAMS, quality control, and Health & Safety management.

· Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.

· Working knowledge of industry standards (e.g. EN16005 / DHF).

· Full UK driving licence.

Desirable:

· IOSH or NEBOSH qualification (or willingness to complete training).

· Experience managing enginnering team, subcontractors and project commissioning.

· Background in training or mentoring engineer
