MyCWA is a Cheshire-based charity dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by domestic abuse. As one of the UK's longest-running domestic abuse charities, we support thousands of adults and children each year through a wide range of services, including a 24-hour helpline, crisis accommodation, recovery programmes, and behaviour-change interventions.

Bid Writer (6-month fixed-term contract)

We are looking for a skilled Bid Writer to join our team on a 6-month fixed-term contract to help secure vital funding that enables us to continue changing lives impacted by domestic abuse.

In this role, you will research funding opportunities, produce persuasive grant applications and proposals, and work collaboratively across the organisation to ensure bids are accurate, compelling, and aligned with funder requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Research and evaluate new funding opportunities across trusts, foundations, local authorities, and other sources.
  • Write high-quality, tailored bids, grant applications, and proposals that clearly communicate the impact of our work.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to gather relevant data, case studies, and service information.
  • Ensure all submissions meet funder guidelines and are completed to deadline.
  • Track the progress of submitted bids and maintain accurate records.
  • Contribute to income-generation strategies by identifying and recommending new funding streams.

About you - skills & experience

  • Proven experience in bid writing, grant writing, or proposal development.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to translate information into persuasive narratives.
  • Exceptional written communication, proofreading, and editing skills.
  • Understanding of fundraising practices, donor engagement, and the charity funding landscape.
  • Highly organised, detail-focused, and able to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative, hybrid team.
  • A track record of successful funding applications is highly desirable.
