Learning Support Teaching Assistant (Primary) – EastbourneAbout the Role

A friendly and inclusive primary school in Eastbourne is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Teaching Assistant (Primary) to join their supportive team.

You'll work closely with teachers to provide one-to-one and small group learning support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including autism, ADHD and speech & language difficulties. Your role will help pupils develop confidence, independence and a love of learning.

This is a full-time, term-time only role, ideal for a graduate or experienced Teaching Assistant who's passionate about inclusive primary education and wants to make a real impact in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEN and additional learning needs within the classroom and during activities
  • Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions to help children reach learning goals
  • Assist in implementing EHCP targets and behaviour-support strategies
  • Encourage pupil participation through creative, positive approaches
  • Collaborate closely with class teachers, the SENCo and external professionals
  • Promote a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

  • Graduate (2:1 or above preferred) or holds a Level 3 Teaching Assistant / Childcare qualification
  • Experience supporting children with SEN or learning differences (personal or professional)
  • Patient, empathetic and adaptable to different learning styles
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude
  • Reliable, proactive and passionate about education and child development
