The role

As a US/UK Tax Senior Associate

  • You will be preparing US and UK tax returns based on client data provided in various formats under the overall support of a line manager.

The role of a tax assistant involves the following:

  • Continuing to develop an overall understanding of the tax return preparation processes and develop your ability to manage your work;
  • Sense-checking the client's position and be able to discuss the reasons for a payment being due, a nil liability or a repayment with the reviewer;
  • Working with client to prevent double taxation. This is demonstrated through the quality of your work in terms of foreign versus US sourcing of income on a US return and the claim for foreign tax credits on a US and UK tax return;
  • Able to identify and understand tax filing requirements and the consequences of US ownership of non-US entities and vice versa;
  • Reviewing straight forward tax returns;
  • Self-reviewing your work before passing it on to a manager for review and ensuring your numbers match the returns;
  • Listing the items of information needed to complete a tax return. This will involve identifying missing information and flagging potential tax issues for managers.

A note from the Hiring Manager

"Fantastic opportunity to join BR's thriving US/UK Tax department. You will have primary contact responsibility for a portfolio of US/UK connected private clients, the opportunity to learn from technically strong experienced members of the team, and to progress your career as the department grows."

  • Synchronous/Asynchronous working– using the office or technology to work together at the same time / using technology and different ways of working to work at different times to colleagues.
  • Smarter working– finding simpler, more efficient ways of delivering services to clients and working together as a BR team. These can be tech-enabled but may also be simple changes to our processes
  • Flexible working– a temporary or permanent change to someone's terms and conditions which fixes a working pattern different to the standard contract
