Are you a highly motivated, professional nurse with drive and passion working at a senior nursing level and looking to progress your career in one of the largest Health Boards in Wales. If you are, then we have an excellent opportunity for you to join the Division of Surgery Divisional Leadership Team within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.

The Head of Nursing for Division of Surgery is a senior member of the nursing division who will support the Divisional Nurse and wider nursing teams. The post holder will be responsible for taking the lead on agreed nursing development programmes, recruitment and retention, measuring and improving standards of care and the patient experience, in accordance with agreed objectives, targets, quality standards, controls and resource constraints. The post-holder is pivotal to ensuring safe, timely and compassionate care to patients and service users across and beyond designated areas.

Main duties of the job

Key aspects of this role will be supporting the implementation of the corporate nursing agenda along with developing divisional priorities

The successful candidate will show a passion for patient centred care, staff development and service improvement.

The Head of Nursing role will provide strong clinical and professional leadership, being a clearly visible and supportive role model and professionally accountable for the delivery of high quality, safe and effective care. The successful individual, alongside the Divisional Nurse will take a lead in driving forward a positive culture of robust governance and service improvement.

To succeed in this role, you will need to inspire and motivate a diverse workforce, build excellent relationships through good communication skills and have professional standards. You must be willing to embrace a broad range of new challenges and possess the knowledge and drive to create and deliver innovative opportunities for service delivery and patient care
