The Role

We're seeking an experienced SHEQ Manager to lead the Safety, Health, Environment and Quality function across all UK operations.

This is a strategic, senior-level position reporting directly into the CEO, with full responsibility for developing and delivering the company's SHEQ strategy, culture, and compliance.

You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the business continues to operate safely, sustainably, and to the highest quality standards. The role will require national travel to depots and sites, typically 1–2 nights per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the company's SHEQ strategy in line with business goals and industry best practice.
  • Provide expert guidance to the CEO, senior management team, and depot leaders on all SHEQ matters.
  • Oversee compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental legislation.
  • Maintain ISO certifications (9001, 14001, and manage external audits.
  • Conduct internal audits, inspections and incident investigations, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Drive initiatives supporting sustainability and environmental performance.
  • Promote a proactive, positive culture of behavioural safety and wellbeing throughout the business.
  • Produce monthly SHEQ performance reports and present to the senior management team.
  • Lead the company's Plant and Safety Forum and other internal engagement activities.

About You

We're looking for a hands-on, credible SHEQ professional who can engage at all levels, from depot teams to the boardroom.

You will ideally be based in the Central England region to allow national travel.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience in a SHEQ role (ideally at management level).
  • Recognised SHEQ or Health & Safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH Certificate minimum).
  • Strong understanding of PUWER, LOLER and relevant H&S legislation.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with a pragmatic approach.
  • Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel nationally.

Desirable

  • NEBOSH Diploma, NCRQ or equivalent qualification.
  • ISO Lead Auditor certification (9001, 14001,
  • Experience within plant hire, construction, or contractor environments.
  • Membership of IOSH or IEMA.
