I am working with one of the leading privately owned residential developments in the Leeds who are looking to strengthen the team with a land manager to focus on a new area of their business.

The role would focus on identifying, negotiating and acquiring new sites that are off market and sourced via direct approaches to landowners. You will utilise land technology to search towns and cities for suitable opportunities and then send letters to them directly.

You must have experience of self-sourcing land and making direct approaches to land owners. Ideally, this role would suit someone from a strategic land or renewable energy background.

You will work closely with the internal and external consultants to successfully manage the projects through the development lifecycle. The business is well established and operates across the uk, it has excellent funding lines and can transact on sites quickly.

Ideally, you will currently be working for one of the leading house builders or residential property developers, but I am also keen to hear from senior candidates working in development consultancy.

This is a new role for the business, reporting directly to the group land director and supported by the existing land and planning team. It is expected that you will develop the pipeline of sites to a stage whereby you will recruit a couple of land buyers to work with you in the next 6-9 months.

Whilst a substantial salary is on offer of £55k - £75k they is also a substantial and lucrative bonus scheme that will mean you double you basic in bonus (the current on market land team are already achieving this)

Responsibilities

  • Sourcing off-market land for purchase
  • Liaising and negotiating with landowners and agents of potential purchases
  • Overseeing legal, planning and design consultants pre and post-acquisition
  • Keeping up to date with town planning policy and specifically in key areas you are targeting for letter writing

Expected experiences

  • Degree-qualified and ideal property-related
  • Natural born deal maker doing 3-4 land deals a year consistently.
  • Experienced senior land manager or land manager ready to make the step up.
  • Demonstratable track record of sourcing and acquiring land via direct approaches.
  • Currently working for either a national residential developer or a high-profile investor or agency or strategic land promotor.
  • Detailed understanding of the planning application and appeals process.
  • Determined, hungry and ambitious.
  • Ability to work autonomously and independently from the rest of the team.
