About the Role

This role is ideal for qualified counsellors, wellbeing practitioners, or mental health support professionals who want to work within a psychologically informed NHS service.

You'll deliver structured emotional wellbeing and psychoeducational support to adults and children/young people living with long-term health conditions, helping them build coping strategies, confidence, and resilience.

Our team works across a range of NHS specialties and populations, including long-term condition management, oncology, diabetes, paediatric and epilepsy pathways. This gives you the opportunity to develop broad, transferable skills and experience within an NHS multidisciplinary environment.

  • Support patients to manage the emotional impact of long-term health conditions
  • Work within agreed inclusion criteria, escalating complex or high-risk cases appropriately
  • Maintain accurate, confidential clinical records in line with NHS standards
  • Administer and record wellbeing outcome measures (e.g. PHQ-9, GAD-7)
  • Collaborate with colleagues across multiple NHS specialties, including nurses, AHPs, counsellors, wider professionals
  • Participate in regular supervision, reflective practice, and service development meetings

About You

Essential:

  • Level 4 Diploma (or higher) in Counselling, Coaching, Wellbeing, or Mental Health Support
  • Experience delivering structured one-to-one or group wellbeing interventions
  • Excellent communication, empathy, and organisational skills
  • Understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding, and professional boundaries

Desirable:

  • Degree in Counselling
  • Experience in NHS or community health settings
  • Familiarity with outcome measures (e.g. PHQ-9, GAD-7) and electronic record systems (e.g. EMIS, Rio)
  • Additional training in CBT, mindfulness, or guided self-help

What We Offer

  • competitive salary
  • Regular supervision and reflective practice from Clinical Psychologist
  • Ongoing CPD opportunities
  • pension scheme eligibility (if applicable)
  • A supportive, values-driven, multidisciplinary team
  • Opportunities to gain experience across multiple NHS specialties and patient groups
  • Working with our psychology team

If you're a qualified counsellor or wellbeing practitioner who's passionate about helping people live well with long-term health conditions - and you'd like to broaden your NHS experience across different specialties - we'd love to hear from you.
