Palterton England, United Kingdom Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust Full time £45,000 - £60,000 per year

Have you thought about working in an organisation where everyone feels like they belong, all voices count and an inclusive environment is in place for all? We want this for all our people and are looking for someone to join our team who will support us on our journey to achieve this.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) is recognised to be a key driver in the delivery of high-quality patient care, staff retention, improving staff engagement levels and promoting a positive staff experience. To support the NHS People Plan, the Workforce EDI Lead will lead our EDI programme of work and take responsibility for defining actions to support our EDI objectives and increase the spread of EDI initiatives across the organisation. This will be carried out through our 'Be Yourself' approach to having an inclusive workplace for all our people including those with protected characteristics. We want you to be passionate about our people, our patients and their families, and the public service we provide 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We really want to hear from you if you demonstrate a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in your work and/or personal life and understand the importance of lived experience in creating an inclusive workplace.

You do not need to have NHS experience; you may have some knowledge of the NHS from either work experience or researching available information. We offer a range of flexible working options to support our staff.

As Workforce EDI lead, you will be a senior leader in the Workforce and OD team and the wider Trust. You will have a key role in supporting, influencing and educating people across the Trust, role modelling inclusion and challenging non-inclusive practice and behaviours. We will help you build up your professional network as you join our leadership assembly and groups across the wider NHS system.

The role is wide ranging and will include things such as developing education for Black History Month, organising and promoting activities for Disability History Month, community engagement at Chesterfield Pride, designing and delivering training, supporting colleagues through sensitive situations, drafting policies and analysing data.  Some current projects we have underway include the implementation of our anti-racism strategy, inclusive recruitment, expanding colleague network groups and working with team colleagues to support clear expectations around our behaviours and values.

Through analysing workforce data using our Workforce Race and Disability Equality Standards, Pay Gaps and workforce demogra

Here at Chesterfield Royal Hospital, we provide a full range of district general services, including 24-hour urgent and emergency care, specialist children's services, maternity and community midwifery to the population of North Derbyshire – around 400,000 local people. We also offer primary care services through nine GP surgeries in Chesterfield and Derbyshire. We work closely with partners across health and care as part of the Joined Up Care Derbyshire system.

The Trust's Together as One Strategy and People Plan describe our organisational values and a pledge to support our people. We are above average in all themes of the NHS National Staff Survey. A significant element of supporting our people includes compassionate and inclusive leadership. We know that people have a life outside of work, we offer a raft of support to care for your physical and mental wellbeing including a purpose-built Wellbeing Hub free of charge for staff. With abundant countryside and lovely views - it's easy to access green space at break times as an opportunity to de-stress. We are easily accessible from the M1 and the A61 and the local train station is nearby.

Ours is a workplace in which you can proudly be yourself. This message is from Trudy, who will be your line manager:

"Shortlisting for this post won't just be focused on ticking boxes from your application form – who you are and the potential you have to bring diversity and talent to our team will be just as important to us."
