A leading UK law firm is seeking a senior practice development lawyer (PDL) to join its highly respected Employment team in Edinburgh or Glasgow. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced employment lawyer to step into a strategic, innovative and client-facing role that sits at the heart of knowledge, training and legal service development.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will work closely with employment lawyers and clients across the UK, helping shape how the team delivers insight, knowhow and forward-thinking legal solutions. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys strategic thinking, collaboration and influencing how legal services evolve.

You will be involved in:

  • Tracking key legal and market developments and sharing timely, commercially focused insights
  • Designing and delivering high-quality training for lawyers and clients
  • Developing innovative tools, resources and knowledge products
  • Leading strategic knowledge projects and contributing to firm wide initiatives
  • Working with legal tech and advanced delivery teams to improve processes and client service
  • Supporting client teams with thought leadership, horizon scanning and policy insights
  • Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external clients

About You

The firm welcomes applications from experienced employment lawyers with:

  • 8+ years' PQE in UK employment law
  • Strong technical skills and confidence with complex advisory work
  • Experience engaging directly with clients
  • An interest in innovation, modern legal delivery and shaping best practice
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with senior stakeholders
  • A proactive approach, with the confidence to lead and drive ideas forward

Previous PDL experience is not required.
