Consultant Psychiatrist – Priory Hospital, Melton Mowbray

Priory Hospital is seeking a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at a brand-new, nurse-led residential service in Melton Mowbray, supporting individuals with complex mental health needs. This is a unique chance to play a key role in shaping and delivering a pioneering service.

Role Type: Part-time (15 hours/week)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews, and development of a therapeutic milieu.
  • Act as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act
  • Supervise the referral and admission process, including contributing to pre-admission assessments with other team members.
  • Provide psychiatric input to the multidisciplinary team in assessment, formulation, and treatment of adults.
  • Support residents' wellbeing through personalised care planning and implementation of individual patient care plans.
  • Assist qualified staff with routine tasks and therapeutic activities to maintain dignity and facilitate treatment.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Psychiatry or equivalent.
  • Full GMC registration with a license to practice in the UK.
  • Substantial experience managing complex mental health conditions in NHS or equivalent settings.
  • Strong leadership within multidisciplinary teams, demonstrating clinical excellence.
  • Sound knowledge of NHS standards, NICE guidelines, and UK mental health legislation, including the Mental Health Act.
  • Proven skills in psychopharmacology, risk assessment, and evidence-based treatment approaches.
  • Excellent communication, teamworking, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Experience contributing to clinical audits, service development, and training.
  • Resilience and empathy to support patients through both highs and lows.
