Lead Manufacturing Specialist

We are delighted to announce we are currently seeking a highly competent Production Supervisor to oversee our production operations to lead in the deployment of Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
As a Production Supervisor you will manage daily production activities, ensuring that processes run smoothly and efficiently to meet production targets. You will supervise and coordinate the activities of production staff, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing training and development opportunities. By demonstrating strong people management skills you will have full accountability for your area, lead by example and make your teams accountable to achieve targets set by the business KPIs.
Key Responsibilities of the role include;
- Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing safety regulations and ensuring that all employees adhere to safety protocols.
- Ensure that products meet quality standards by implementing and maintaining quality assurance protocols throughout the production process.
- Analyse production workflows and identify areas for improvement to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Prepare and present regular reports on production performance, including key performance indicators (KPIs) and areas for improvement.
- Oversee training and coach of employees.
- Set and manage production budgets and make your teams accountable for their performance.
- Managing a developing apprentices to future proof our business
We operate across a number of shift rotations, so flexibility to working hours is key in this role. Some weekend working will be required this is on a rotation basis between the supervisor team.
Essential Requirements: -
Experience:
Typically requires 2-3 years of experience in a heavy manufacturing or production environment, with a strong understanding of production processes and machinery.
Leadership Skills
: Strong leadership abilities to motivate and guide a diverse team, fostering a collaborative work environment.
Communication Skills:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with team members and management.
Problem-Solving Skills:
Ability to quickly identify and resolve production issues to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
Technical Proficiency:
Familiarity with production management software and tools for scheduling, reporting, and inventory control.
Qualifications
Proven experience as Production Supervisor or similar role within a heavy manufacturing, engineering or production environment.
Minimum of level 3 NVQ in Mechanical/Electro-mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification
Experience in using various types of manufacturing machinery and tools
Steam Turbine product knowledge would be advantageous.
Experience or knowledge of Lean principles within manufacturing
Degree in a technical, engineering or relevant field will be an advantage.
Desirable
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate, influence and lead teams
Excellent IT skills with a good knowledge of the M365 softwares
Organizational and leadership abilities
Understanding of Business, Finance, and management awareness & principles
Self-motivated with a results-driven approach
Excellent problem solving skills
