Specialist Adult Audiologist

As a Specialist Audiologist you will be responsible for providing high quality clinical work for the Adult Audiology Service ensuring that our service users' needs are fully met. As a centre of excellence you will offer a person-centred approach to their audiological needs.
The post holder will be an experienced Specialist Audiologist. The purpose of this role is to work unsupervised within the Audiology department, supporting the senior staff and Head of Audiology Services.
They will provide complex and non-routine audiological assessment and rehabilitation to a wide range of patients.
They will hold a high degree of responsibility and autonomy working under own initiative to ensure that clinical and professional standards are maintained.
The role involves supervision mentoring and training of junior staff and students. The post holder will work with the clinical leads to ensure that clinical and professional standards are maintained at all times and must maintain continuous personal professional development whilst working towards higher levels of professional competence.
We are a UKAS accredited service and the role involves maintaining a high standard of quality and governance.
To provide clinical and advanced audiological assessment to all patients including those with learning disabilities, challenging behaviour and additional disabilities or special needs.
To provide aural rehabilitation for adults which includes providing counselling to distressed patients about their hearing loss and associated problems, and to have the ability to make decisions about the most appropriate course of treatment for the patient in their care.
To provide specialist tinnitus assessment and rehabilitation as part of our direct-access tinnitus clinics.
To assist in the clinical supervision of trainee and assistant audiologists and other visitors providing instruction/seminars in audiological techniques to trainees studying for professional exams and existing staff.
To assist in the day-to-day running of the Audiology Service which may include special responsibility for the technical work of a particular section. To include maintenance of highest levels of health and safety.
To assist in stock management for the service.
To carry out general duties and maintain a programme of continuing professional development (CPD) working towards higher levels of professional competence.
