We invest in our teams, encourage bold ideas, and support career growth—because when you thrive, we all succeed.What you'll be doingAs Commercial Director, you'll lead the commercial strategy for a portfolio worth nearly £4 billion, supporting the delivery of an annual capital budget of £400m+. You'll shape the way we work with contractors and partners, ensuring our commercial models are agile, competitive, and future-ready.Key responsibilities include:Designing and implementing commercial strategies that drive value, innovation, and market competition.Leading high-value contracts through their full lifecycle, ensuring performance, compliance, and continuous improvement.Collaborating across project, supply chain, and procurement teams to deliver results at pace.Managing commercial risk and providing expert guidance on contract execution and dispute resolution.Building and leading a high-performing team of commercial managers and quantity surveyors.Championing diversity, inclusion, and collaboration across the organisation.Representing SPEN at senior levels across ScottishPower, Iberdrola, and with external stakeholders to executive level. Including our key strategic Agreement frameworkWhat you'll bringWe're looking for a strategic leader with deep commercial expertise and a passion for innovation. You'll have:A proven track record in leading commercial teams through growth and transformation.Strong experience in contract negotiation and management, particularly with NEC4 models (Options A, B, C & E).Expertise in commercial risk management and dispute resolution.Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.A relevant degree and professional accreditation (e.g. MRICS or equivalent).What's in it for you As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits.
