The Technical Associate plays a key role in supporting the delivery of accurate, compliant and insightful technical guidance across pensions, tax, investments and property. Working closely with the Technical Manager, the role contributes to legislative impact assessments, staff training, regulatory reporting and due diligence processes, ensuring the organisation maintains high standards of governance and technical integrity.

HMRC/Pensions

  • Guidance on pension scheme rules, using the Pensions Tax Manual
  • Support technical Manager with preparing Impact Assessments on changes to Pension Legislation
  • Support training and development of staff on pension and tax-related matters
  • Collate and reconcile data required for HMRC Returns for sign off by the Technical Manager
  • Maintain product information documents ensuring they meet the technical requirements needed.
  • Checking and supporting all staff and our connections in any technical matters raised

Investment & Property

  • Manage initial New Investment Enquiries
  • Initial Due Diligence on New Investment Enquiries
  • Approval of Investments which meet a pre-approved criteria.
  • Producing Data for monitoring of Non-Standard Investments
  • Manage the Technical Enquiries Inbox - Allocating to the appropriate individuals.
  • Provide support on technical training to staff across relevant departments

  • Support the Technical Manager on audit, and governance reporting related to investment and property holdings.

  • Experience in pensions administration or technical support

  • Knowledge of HMRC Regulatory Returns.
  • Understanding of HMRC pension tax rules and reporting obligations
  • Significant experience in technical roles within pensions, with a focus on investments and property
  • Awareness of FCA and HMRC regulations relating to SIPP investments and property holdings

  • Professional qualifications such as CII, PMI, CISI, RICS, STEP, or equivalent are highly desirable

  • Awareness of pension legislation and tax treatment

  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Awareness of non-standard investments and commercial property within pension schemes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • High attention to detail and ability to interpret legal and financial documentation
