About the role:

We are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant (Level 2) in Motor Vehicle, Engineering and Construction Industries to join our Construction department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Teaching Assistant (Level 2), you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Student Support & Inclusion – Assist with students' educational, personal, and social needs, promote inclusive learning, and support students with special educational needs as directed.
  • Curriculum Assistance – Support teaching in Motor Vehicle, Engineering, and Construction subjects, including preparing resources and contributing to practical learning activities.
  • Classroom & Visit Support – Help prepare for and supervise college visits, and provide class cover during staff absences under guidance from teaching staff or managers.
  • College Collaboration & Conduct – Work professionally within college policies, attend meetings, maintain confidentiality, and contribute to the efficient operation of the college.
  • Statutory Responsibilities – Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, health & safety, and engage in training and development in line with TBCG policies and procedures.

About you:

  • Qualifications & Subject Knowledge – Relevant Level 3 qualification and Grade 4 or above in English and Maths, with experience supporting teaching and learning in educational settings.
  • Classroom Experience & Behaviour Management – Skilled in managing classroom behaviour, promoting engagement, and supporting learners aged 16+ or adults.
  • Communication & Teamwork – Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to follow lesson plans, work independently, and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Technical & Organisational Skills – Basic IT proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Office, Moodle, Teams), reliable and punctual, with good organisational abilities and a calm, adaptable approach.
  • Values & Inclusion – Empathetic and student-focused, committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and able to maintain a professional and supportive learning environment.
