Head of Talent
Location: New York and London
Company OverviewModel ML is an AI-native workspace built for investment banks, private equity firms, consultancies, and asset managers. You'll be joining two repeat founders who previously built and exited two Y Combinator-backed companies. We've raised an eight-figure round from top-tier investors including Y Combinator and have live production deployments at some of the world's most respected financial institutions. With offices in London, New York, and Hong Kong, we're building the category-defining enterprise AI platform.
The future we're building is one where your entire digital workflow — emails, meetings, research, documents, data analysis — is intelligently managed by an AI model deeply personalised to you. At Model ML, you don't use software — you collaborate with it.
The Role
We're looking for a world-class Head of Talent to build and scale our global talent function from the ground up. You'll partner directly with the founders to define our hiring strategy, build high-performance teams, and shape the culture and standards of a generational company. This is a high-ownership, high-intensity role for someone who thrives in ambiguity and wants to influence the DNA of an iconic organisation.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Build and own Model ML's global talent strategy across London, New York, San Francisco, and Hong Kong.
- Partner directly with the CEO and CTO to understand org needs and translate them into world-class hiring plans.
- Build a repeatable end-to-end recruiting engine — sourcing, screening, assessment, and closing.
- Hire across product, engineering, sales, customer success, operations, and leadership.
- Develop a top-tier sourcing strategy that proactively identifies exceptional candidates before they enter the market.
- Define the standards, processes, and operating rhythm for hiring at scale.
- Build talent brand and outreach motions that reflect the ambition and intensity of Model ML.
- Ensure every hire raises the bar — culturally, technically, and operationally.
- Establish the systems, data, and reporting to support rapid headcount growth.
- Serve as a cultural steward: shaping values, performance expectations, and leadership development.
What You Can Expect
- You'll be building from zero — no legacy, no bureaucracy.
- Priorities will shift. Deadlines will tighten. Growth will be uncomfortable — and that's the point.
- You'll work directly with the CEO and CTO, shaping the company from its earliest stages.
- You'll be an essential force behind assembling one of the highest-calibre teams in the AI industry.
- It will be the most demanding and career-defining talent role you've ever taken on.
What We're Looking For
- 6+ years of experience in recruiting or talent leadership, with a track record of hiring exceptional talent at speed.
- Experience scaling teams at a fast-growing startup or high-performance organisation.
- Ability to design, operationalise, and execute a rigorous, repeatable hiring process.
- Deep understanding of technical and go-to-market roles.
- Exceptional sourcing ability — you know how to find and close people others can't reach.
- Strong communication, storytelling, and candidate-experience instincts.
- High ambition — you want to help build a generational company, not a "nice" one.
What We Offer
- Direct access to the founding team (2x YC-backed exits).
- Competitive salary + meaningful equity.
- A rare opportunity to shape the team, culture, and operating system of a category-defining AI company.
- A culture of high trust, high intensity, and high impact.
To Close
We're assembling a small team of people who want to build something iconic — and are willing to sacrifice for it. If you're hungry, smart, and ready to make your defining career move, we'd love to meet.

We respect your time and move fast.
