Job Overview:

We are seeking a hygiene operative to join our team on the evening shift in a wild bird food factory. The shift days/times are Mon-Thur, 2.30pm-1.30am, leaving you with a long weekend each week.

Location:

Please note the factory is based in a remote location with no public transport or safe walking routes, so reliable transport is essential.

Responsibilities:

• To complete scheduled and unscheduled cleaning requirements to customers' and BRC standards (internal / external).
• When required, to carry out sites' gardening maintenance activities around the perimeter (cutting grass, removal of unwanted vegetation, cleaning)
• When required carry to support general sites' building fabrication maintenance such as pest proofing of the building, painting, and cleaning.
• To maintain daily cleaning sign off records for the task carried out, ensuring correct and accurate completion.
• Carry out High Level Cleaning in production areas to minimise Pest Issues. Both Use of a Sky-jack and High Level Vacuum required.
• To empty production recycling bins. Sort out daily waste using bailers for: cardboard, plastic, tote bags and general waste.
• Adhere to COSHH regulations with regards to Handling Hazardous Substances on Site for cleaning and as a result of cleaning to minimise the creation of Airbourne Contaminants.
• To ensure a proactive approach is made towards hygiene requirements via inter departmental communication, self-auditing and striving to be multi-skilled.
• To always adhere to company policies and procedures (e.g., Personal Hygiene Policy, Personal Protective Equipment Procedure).
• To issue requested PPE to employees. Requests must be passed by Team Captains or Shift Supervisor / Manager and must be reasonable and based on the task / job the requesting person is carrying out.
• Carry out daily cleaning of welfare facilities and offices (canteens, toilets, corridors, smoking shelter, first aid room, board room), ensuring hand hygiene consumables are available (dispensers filled up).
• To help and support daily Pest Control checks / audits.

Experience:

• Proven hygiene / cleaner experience.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety in a workplace.
• Good communication skills.
• Positive "Can do" attitude towards changing the food safety culture on the factory floor.
• Understanding of Food Safety and Quality in practice (factory floor).
• Good understanding of pest control.

Qualification (desired but not essential):

• COSHH Awareness
• Scissor Lift licence
• Forklift licence
• Tower/Scaffold licence
• Working at heights awareness
• Risk assessment awareness
• Method statement awareness
• Manual handling
• Fire marshal
• Asbestos awareness
• Emergency first aid at work.
