Join our Transport team and help shape the future of sustainable mobility. You'll support projects ranging from active travel and public realm schemes to major highway infrastructure, working alongside experienced engineers and planners. The Opportunity

Civil engineering is a central aspect of how we build, maintain and experience the modern world. Arup has been a leader in civil engineering for over 50 years, designing the vital water, energy and transport infrastructure that cities, countries and communities depend on.

We work with clients to plan, build, integrate and maintain a wide variety of civil infrastructure, from bridges to reservoirs, from metro tunnels to off-shore wind farms. Our technical teams address every aspect of civil engineering design, working in close collaboration with the full breadth of Arup's other design and engineering disciplines.

Civil Engineering Transport
The Civil Engineering team thrives on the diversity of our work. Projects undertaken by the team include highway and public realm design, sustainable urban drainage, utilities co-ordination, water and wastewater treatment and energy related projects. We often play a key role in large scale multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects. The team is involved in projects throughout the project lifecycle, from initial concept stage through to detailed design and construction, for a wide range of both public and private sector Clients.

We're Looking For Motivated Students Who Are

• Studying Civil Engineering (or a related discipline), and on track for a 2:1 or above
• Interested in developing design skills and understanding the route to professional accreditation
• Eager to learn, take on new challenges, and deliver high-quality work for a range of clients
• Strong communicators who enjoy working collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams
• Passionate about shaping a sustainable future and making a positive impact through highways and infrastructure
• Curious about how digital tools, automation, and data can enhance engineering design
• Analytical thinkers with a systems-based approach to problem solving
• Familiar with or keen to develop skills in CAD, GIS, and other relevant software
• Open to exploring programming or digital automation to improve design workflows
• Enthusiastic about gaining real-world experience and contributing to meaningful projects
• Excited to gain hands-on experience in a multidisciplinary environment
