No day will be the same - here are some of the highlights We're seeking a skilled Electrical Designer to join our growing business, who will be responsible for all design and calculations for the solar PV electrical installations on commercial properties. This role involves providing critical technical support and installation specifications to the Project Manager and site team. Working closely with our surveyors and project managers, the designer ensures that every installation meets our high standards for quality and safety, reporting directly to the Head of Commercial Operations.
Responsibilities:
- Electrical System Design: Develop the full electrical system design and layout for solar PV supplies, including product specification.
- Schematics & Diagrams: Create detailed electrical schematics and single-line diagrams for all installations.
- Technical Interpretation: Interpret and translate requirements provided by Surveyors and Project Managers into accurate designs.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all final designs meet current regulations, comply with relevant codes, and adhere strictly to safety standards.
- Detailed Calculations: Perform comprehensive technical calculations to formally demonstrate regulatory compliance.
- Cable Calculation Expertise: Execute accurate cable calculations using industry-approved software such as Amtech or Trimble.
What you'll need to succeed
Essentials
- Proven work experience as an Electrical Designer.
- Proficient with AutoCAD, Amtech or Trimble and other related software.
- Excellent understanding of electrical design and electrical systems.
- BSc degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Valid full driver's license.
Desirable
- Experience in the solar PV industry is a plus but not essential.

Our head office is in Chippenham, Wiltshire, with additional offices and warehouses in Lincoln, Ringwood (Hampshire), and Kent. For this role, we're looking for candidates to be based in our Lincoln office.
We are looking for candidates who are able to join us from January 2026 onwards.
