ZERO HOURS | Night Porter/Night Receptionist

Please note that this position is offered on a zero hours contract but will include working on a Friday evening.

Central Hotel

We are a small, independent hotel known for our warm hospitality. We take pride in creating a comfortable and safe environment for our guests, day and night.

The Role

We are looking for a reliable and proactive Night Porter/Night Receptionist to join our team on a zero hours contract. Shift will include a Friday evening. As we operate 24/7, shifts may fall on any day of the week, including weekends and public holidays.

You will have customer contact, so need to be confident and outgoing and adhere to our high personal presentation standards. Some of the types of jobs you will be expected to do are as follows, but this is not a full list:

  • Welcoming late-arriving guests and handling check-ins/check-outs;
  • Monitoring the hotel premises to ensure guest safety and security;
  • Assisting guests with queries and requests during the night;
  • Setting up breakfast areas or early morning preparations as needed;
  • Carrying out light cleaning and general tidying of public areas;
  • Conducting regular security checks and locking up areas when required;
  • Handling phone calls and taking messages.

Hours of work

Shift Work (10.00pm - 06:00am)

Central Hotel is open 7 days a week so you must be willing to work Saturdays and Sundays.

What we are looking for:

  • Previous experience in a similar role is essential (Night Porter/Night Receptionist/Security);
  • Friendly and approachable with excellent customer service skills;
  • Fluent English speaker with clear communication skills;
  • Very smart appearance and a professional attitude;
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure;
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude;
  • Confident computer skills for booking systems and emails;
  • Flexibility to work at short notice, including weekends and holidays;
  • Must live locally or within easy commuting distance.
