Cardiff and Vale College is seeking to appoint a Nursery Nurse to support the smooth running of the nursery. The ideal candidate will ensure the provision of a happy, safe, secure and stimulating environment in which physical, emotional, intellectual, social and psychological development of the children is taken into full account.

The successful candidate will encourage the children to maintain and develop their own individuality and independence within supportive group care environment and will be able to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities particular to this post are:

  • Maintaining a safe and secure environment that fosters the all-round development of the children.
  • Plan, prepare, and evaluate activities that promote children's physical, social, intellectual and emotional development in a setting that respects individuality and diversity.
  • Observe and monitor the progress of individual children and keep necessary records. Use these records to enhance progression and development.
  • Liaise with parents/carers and nursery users regarding their children's care. Make parents feel at ease and welcome in the nursery. Encourage participation and discussion and respond to requirements regarding childcare and wellbeing.
  • The ideal candidate will hold an appropriate Level 3 qualification in childcare/Nursery nursing and a thorough working knowledge of all aspects of the Children Act, including child protection procedures and relevant legislation

Please note that this is a Fixed Term Contract for Maternity Cover until June 2026
