The Role
As a Private Client Solicitor, you will:
  • Advise high-net-worth clients on estate planning, wills, trusts, and tax-efficient wealth structures
  • Manage estate administration from probate through to final distribution, ensuring compliance with all legal and tax requirements
  • Draft complex legal documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and tax planning structures
  • Provide strategic guidance on inheritance tax planning, lifetime gifts, and succession planning
  • Conduct client meetings with professionalism and discretion, often handling sensitive family matters
  • Liaise with accountants, tax advisers, and financial planners to deliver holistic client solutions
  • Manage a portfolio of clients, building long-term relationships and repeat business
  • Contribute to team development by mentoring junior staff and sharing expertise
About You
Essential Requirements:
  • 6–7 years' Post-Qualification Experience (PQE) in private client law, OR
  • 3–4 years' PQE with substantial pre-qualification experience in private client matters (e.g., trainee/paralegal roles)
  • Strong technical knowledge of wills, trusts, estate administration, and inheritance tax planning
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly
  • Discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive family and financial matters
  • Proficiency with legal case management systems, Microsoft Office, and conveyancing software
  • Current practising certificate in good standing
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience with Lasting Powers of Attorney and deputyship matters
  • Knowledge of trust administration and tax planning strategies
  • Membership of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) or commitment to obtaining it
  • Track record of positive client feedback and business development
  • Interest in continuing professional development within private client law
