Lead Engineer – Doors
to be based at our customer's site in Gaydon
.
Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.
The Role:
To provide engineering expertise in the design, development, integration, and maintenance of door systems within rolling stock, with a focus on mechatronics. The role involves supporting project delivery, ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Area of Responsibility
Design & Development:
Support the design and specification of door systems, including mechanical, electrical, and control components.
Assist in the integration of door systems with vehicle control architectures and safety systems.
Testing & Validation:
Participate in functional testing, fault diagnosis, and validation of door systems.
Support commissioning activities and ensure systems meet performance and safety requirements.
Project Support:
Contribute to engineering work packages, including documentation, risk assessments, and change control.
Liaise with suppliers, manufacturers, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery of components and solutions.
Compliance & Standards:
Ensure all work complies with relevant industry standards (e.g., EN 14752, RIS-2703-RST) and company procedures.
Support audits and reviews related to door system safety and reliability.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for system optimisation, cost reduction, and reliability improvements.
Contribute to lessons learned and knowledge sharing across engineering teams.
Knowledge / Experience:

Degree or HNC/HND in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering.
·
Experience working with door systems in rail, automotive, aerospace, or similar industries.
·
Knowledge of mechatronic systems, sensors, actuators, and control logic.
·
Familiarity with CAD tools, FMEA, and fault diagnostics.
·
Understanding of safety-critical systems and relevant standards.
