Setting Information
We are a 40 place pack away Preschool and Forest School provision for children aged 2 to 5 years old. We are based in St Lawrence's Church Hall, Abbots Langley in a church hall building with small garden area. Our Forest School operates from a woodland area located at Abbots Langley Primary school.
We operate term time only from 8.00am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
Our aim as a setting is to enable every child to achieve in their learning and development, whilst being nurtured and supported through a child centred, play-based curriculum and the outdoor environment. We use the Early Years Foundation Stage to guide our curriculum, making assessments of each child's learning and development and provide unique learning opportunities specific to each child's needs and abilities.
Vacancy Information
Position: Deputy Preschool Manager
We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking individual who has a passion for working with children, supporting their learning and development and outdoors. You will be required to support the Preschool Manager with the effective running of the Preschool, acting as Manager in her absence. You need to take on the role of a keyworker, supporting the children's learning and development in line with our curriculum, the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum and using In the Moment planning.
You will be responsible, alongside the Preschool Manager, for the day to day operations of the Preschool and will be expected to lead and support the staff team to deliver a high-quality curriculum and provision for the children who attend.
You will also take on the role and responsibility of Designated Safeguarding Lead, training for this role will be provided if you don't already have it.
You must hold a relevant Level 3 Child Care qualification or equivalent and have at least 1 years' experience within an Early Years or educational setting.
You will be required to work term time, 5 days per week for the following hours:
8.00am – 3.30pm (with a 30-minute unpaid break)
Equalling 35 hours per week.
Start Date: 5th January 2026, flexible.
Rate of pay: £16-18 per hour, dependent upon experience and qualifications. You are paid on a pro rata basis monthly.
There are occasions where you would be required to work overtime to meet the needs of the preschool, maintain safeguarding regulations and for meetings, parent consultations and training. Prior notice is given for this.
