About the company:

Our partner is a fast-growing UK aviation technology start-up building mission-critical software used across airspace operations and defence environments. Their platform is already live across multiple UK sites and supports complex, high-resilience systems that must operate seamlessly across cloud and customer-managed infrastructure.

The company works at the intersection of aviation, cloud infrastructure, and secure systems engineering. With major new projects underway, they are now scaling their technical team to support both pure Azure cloud environments and hybrid deployments running within customer-owned data centres.

About the role:

They are now seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to take ownership of their cloud and hybrid infrastructure. This is a highly hands-on role where you will be responsible for building, securing, and scaling production environments that are used in real-world, safety-critical aviation settings.

You will work closely with software engineers to ensure the platform is resilient, secure, and capable of operating both in Azure and in hybrid or local cloud environments used by customers with strict infrastructure requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain Azure infrastructure across production and secure environments.
  • Support hybrid cloud and local cloud deployments using Azure and Azure Local.
  • Build high-availability, resilient systems with strong backup and disaster recovery.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code across environments.
  • Monitor system performance, reliability, and security.
  • Work closely with engineers to support stable, frequent releases.
  • Support customers running workloads within their own data centres.
  • Contribute to security, compliance, and reliability best practices.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience with Azure and Azure DevOps.
  • Experience supporting hybrid cloud or on-prem to cloud environment.
  • Solid understanding of high availability, resilience, and disaster recovery.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools.
  • Comfortable working in secure, regulated, or high-assurance environments.
  • Aviation, defence, or infrastructure-heavy industry experience is beneficial but not essential.
