Role Description

Our vision is to be the leading asset management organization supporting our clients to optimize the performance and value from their physical assets through the lifecycle of planning, creation, maintenance, operation and disposal. We combine our digital, engineering, data analytics and consultancy expertise from our global teams to deliver sustainable and predictive asset management solutions for asset intensive organisations, enabling operational, tactical and strategic asset management decision making in a continually changing environment. 

Based in the UK, we have an exciting opportunity for a senior Rail Asset Management leader to join our team and help achieve this vision.  You will help develop and deliver our UK Rail asset management strategy, lead a range of asset management consultancy projects and help develop value propositions in our rail business. You will also provide support to the wider asset management consulting and advisory business through our global business areas, Mobility, Resilience and Places.

You will be a key member of the Rail team, reporting to the Business Director for Rail S & I, and play a vital role in growing the business and creating opportunity.  You will work closely with the Head of Highways Asset Management to ensure our Asset Management offer and service is coherent and united across Mobility.

This is a maturing team, pulling together our already strong capability in asset management into a unified offering. There will be opportunities for growth and career development for individuals with a growth mind set.

Role Accountabilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of the year on year Rail Asset Management strategy and associated delivery of the Asset Management portfolio for Rail through all stages of Arcadis Way (MtO, PtW and DtR)
  • Sustainable growth in revenue and headcount of the Rail Asset Management team in line with business plan targets
  • Development and delivery of the Rail Asset Management Net Revenue Target 
  • Asset Management project portfolio to be delivered with our Global Excellence Centres
  • Lead the definition and development of specific Arcadis Rail Asset Management skills and capabilities we will take to market and the associated recruitment to increase capability and capacity in this service line
  • With the Head of Highways Asset Management co-create our UK Mobility asset management strategy and development of annual asset management plans by account. This will involve working across all parts of the Arcadis business.
  • Leading asset management client engagement, development of value propositions and tenders in the rail market, and supporting the wider business in pursuit to win of strategic opportunities (e.g. requiring blended design and engineering, project and programme management, cost and commercial and asset management services).
  • Line management and career development of direct reports in line with the asset management strategy.
  • Applying your asset management process skills, knowledge and insight to oversee the delivery of asset management projects on time, meeting both quality and budgetary targets, whilst striving to exceed client expectations.
  • Support our Global capability, in particular in relation to application of international asset management standards (e.g. ISO55000 suite) and risk / maintenance advisory.
  • Thought leadership and external presentations at industry events

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Senior leadership experience in asset management in a consultancy, client or regulator environment, developing and implementing asset management strategy and plans
  • You will need a combination of asset management process skills, rail infrastructure end market experience, asset class subject matter expertise and /or asset management transformation programmes
  • Strong links to the industry, clients and profession of Asset Management to support the development of capability and growth of Arcadis Asset Management business in line with client requirements
  • Experience of leadership and / or consultancy delivery of asset management projects helping resolve strategic, tactical and / or operational challenges. Examples include Asset Management strategies, Plans, Asset risk assessments, RAMS, O&M planning, decision support tools, regulator reviews (e.g. ORR), operational readiness, asset data quality assessments and AM maturity gap analysis. 
  • Tender management and bid experience
  • Good understanding of risk management (e.g FMECA, Bow Tie, Fishbone), ISO55000, asset management, maintenance engineering (e.g. RCM) and / or Six Sigma processes and tools
  • Chartered or Fellowship status
  • Recognised Institute of Asset Management certifications (or working towards certification)
