As a Senior Data Scientist in the Customer Contact team at E.ON Next, you will play a crucial role in leveraging data to drive agent performance, operational efficiency and customer experience. As a Principal Data Scientist, you'll combine deep technical expertise with a consultative, collaborative approach. Across these roles, you will:

  • Lead data science projects from initial ideas through to delivery, ensuring work is both rigorous and impactful

  • Partner with colleagues across functions, listening carefully and helping them see what's possible through data

  • Translate complex business needs into thoughtful, practical data products that support better decision-making

  • Apply a wide toolkit of methods from classical statistics and regression models to neural networks, ensemble methods, and AI techniques, to answer important business questions

  • Share insights through clear, compelling storytelling, dashboards, and visualisations that empower senior stakeholders to act with confidence

  • Coach and mentor junior data scientists, fostering a culture of growth, curiosity and innovation

  • Champion collaboration, knowledge-sharing and experimentation across the data science and wider business community

Are we the perfect match?

  • Principal Data Scientists: 5–7+ years of hands-on experience with productionised models

  • Senior Data Scientist: Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience with productionised models

  • Degree (BSc or MSc) in a quantitative or technical field (Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Machine Learning)

  • Strong programming skills in Python (production-level) and SQL; confident with modern ML/AI libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch

  • Familiarity with MLOps frameworks, model deployment, and cloud-based platforms (Databricks, AWS, Azure)

  • Strong experience with data visualisation tools and techniques; able to turn complex results into accessible insights

  • Excellent communicator; able to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences with clarity and empathy

  • Passionate about collaboration, curiosity, and mentoring others; motivated to create positive change through data

It would be great if you had:

  • Experience in the energy or retail sector

  • Background in pricing, commercial modelling, credit risk, or debt

  • Exposure to PySpark or other big data tools

  • Experience with NLP, Generative AI, or advanced predictive modelling
