This is a unique and inspiring opportunity for an exceptional nursing leader to influence the future of patient care across a forward-thinking, values-led healthcare organisation. As Head of Nursing, Quality, and Infection Prevention & Control, you will shape the strategic vision for nursing, driving clinical excellence, innovation, and compassionate, safe practice across diverse services.

You will provide visible, impactful leadership that empowers others - raising professional standards, nurturing future nursing talent, and embedding a culture of learning, accountability, and continuous improvement. Working in close partnership with senior colleagues and system partners, you will lead the development of robust governance structures, evidence-based care, and transformation initiatives that enhance both staff experience and patient outcomes.

This role offers significant scope for influence and professional growth, combining strategic leadership with the opportunity to make a tangible difference to quality, safety, and workforce wellbeing. It is ideal for a passionate, future-focused nursing professional ready to champion excellence, innovation, and professional pride across all aspects of care delivery.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide strategic nursing leadership to ensure the consistent delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred care across all clinical services.
  • Lead the implementation of the organisation's Quality Strategy, embedding a culture of learning, continuous improvement, and professional accountability.
  • Oversee all aspects of clinical governance including incident management, risk assessment, audit, complaints, and learning from harm, ensuring clear evidence of improvement.
  • Drive workforce planning, recruitment, and retention initiatives, supporting NMC revalidation, mentorship, wellbeing, and career development across nursing teams.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory bodies such as CQC, NHSE, and UKHSA, maintaining strong assurance and readiness for inspection.
  • Foster collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and external partners, promoting integration, system alignment, and shared responsibility for quality outcomes.
  • Champion innovation, digital transformation, and evidence-based practice to enhance clinical safety, service efficiency, and patient experience.
  • Provide visible leadership, inspiring excellence, compassion, and pride within the nursing workforce while upholding professional values and organisational priorities.
