We have an excellent tole of Painter and Decorator to join our team here at Aaban based at our 2 locations in Oswaldtwistle, Accrington, BB5 postcode.
Pay: £14 an hour
Contract: This is a full time role
Holidays: 28 days (inclusive of Bank Holidays)
Aaban Partnership Ltd delivers specialist recovery-focused assessment, treatment and care for young people who have complex social, emotional and mental health needs.
The Painter and Decorator works within the Estate Team, led by the Estate Manager, and will be responsible for the painting and decorating of the Hospital facilities. Under the supervision of the Estate Manager, provides all aspects of property upkeep, care and maintenance in line with statutory and regulatory requirements.
The Painter and Decorator works alongside our clinical teams to create an environment that is conducive to the delivery of recovery focused care.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Carries out duties as instructed by the Estate Manager
· Responsible for the internal planned paintwork including site preparation, surface preparation and applying paint and other finishes to walls, ceilings, furniture and other surfaces.
· Day-to-day tasks could include participating in a programme of re-decorating to keep the facilities maintained to a high standard. This includes walls, ceilings, woodwork and other surfaces etc.
· Tasks include removing all or damaged paintwork, repairing other surfaces to be painted, plastering, applying paint and other finishes.
· Fitting in other decorative items
· Calculating paint and other materials needed
· Work alongside the senior clinical team to ensure the decorating and painting is according to the requirements of the hospital.
· Undertake responsibility for the care and maintenance of tools and materials.
· Work alongside other members of the maintenance team and external contractors such as technicians, electricians and builders where necessary.
· Maintain accurate records of painting activities and ensure compliance with safety regulations and guidelines
· Assist with contractor visits, ensuring they are accompanied and safe during their visits to the units
· Support the maintenance team where required with reasonable requests
· Conduct regular inspections of the facilities to identify painting & decorating needs.
· Comply with health and safety regulations, to ensure a safe working environment for all parties. You will be required to communicate with clinical teams when carrying out decorating tasks to ensure patient safety.
· Engages with appropriate training including across all areas of health and safety
· Observe confidentiality of young people
Essential experience
· Acceptable enhanced child and adult disclosure and barring service check
· Previous experience of painting and decorating
· Good manual (hand) skills; proficient in using hand and power tools
· Ability to carry out painting and decorating tasks requiring physical activity, such as lifting, and bending etc. Willing to work at heights both indoors and outside.
· Ability to work calmly under pressure and multi-task
· We are looking for someone who is methodical and can work quickly and accurately
· Ability to work individually or as part of a wider team
· Willing to be flexible and work outside normal working hours if required
· Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety regulation
· Competent and personable
· High degree of personal drive and motivation
· Proven ability to adapt to change
· Experience of liaising effectively with building users and external contractors
· Strong knowledge of various painting and decorating techniques
· Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
Desirable:
· Formal qualification (NVQ)
· Awareness of CQC regulations (particularly regulation 15)
· Experience of working alongside vulnerable people.
· COSHH/Moving & Handling training/awareness
· Previous experience working in a hospital/care setting
· Working in a patient/clinical setting
