Pre-Construction Senior Engineer – Environment North and east
Northumberland
What you will be doing:
An opportunity has arisen for a Pre-Construction Senior Engineer to join the team at Galliford Try.
Ideally, you will be based in or around the Northumberland area and will have the opportunity to travel across multiple sites/projects in the Region.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Pre-Construction Engineer who will support the Pre-Construction Engineering Manager to create a robust target cost, risk register, and outline delivery plan before we begin any work on site.
Responsible for ensuring a robust Engineering Service Enquiry is drafted, reviewed and approved, detailing the required Pre-Construction design deliverables in line with the requirements for each project and aligned with the Pre-Construction Programme.
- client-facing, ensuring the tender designs align with the Client's requirements allowing design deliverables to successfully move through to the project delivery teams, ensuring smooth development into the client's design approval process.
Apply CDM and principle of prevention and safety in design as Principal Designer, supported by the allocated design consultant.
Ensure PCI gap analysis is carried out at the pre con stage, ensuring we have sufficient information and ensure all parties have access to the information during the project lifecycle.
Coordinating all necessary Operational input required to assist the Pre-con activities (e.g. delivery planning, programme, constructability, matrix engagement, etc).
Ensure that the design considers cost/budget, Quality & buildability, Health & Safety and compliance with the Brief, regulations & standards, including Environmental and Sustainability requirements.
Coordinate, challenge and optimise Civil and MEICA technical solutions, maintaining compliance with design and regulatory requirements.
Ensure the Design Management Plan (DMP) and Principal Designer Tool Kit are produced and developed throughout the pre-con phase, updated and handed over from the Pre-con team to the Operational team.
Ensure thorough design scope (ESE) is consistently produced and our Engineering service (internal or external) provides the required quality of Pre-con design deliverables in line with our programme requirements.
Producing the Design Management Plan (DMP), Principal Designer Tool Kit and the implementation of the BIM execution plan which will be updated and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
Manage a change control system that allows the Pre-con team to stay ahead of change, assess impact quickly and be decisive around moving forward, recognising that a decent quick decision is better than a perfect one that is late
Ensure all key functions are involved in the design process (e.g. H&S, Quality, Environmental, etc) to confirm a robust final solution and effective delivery plan is in place before we move to site.
Understand and implement Quality, Safety and Environmental Policies and Target.
About You:
You will have a minimum of a HND/HNC in a related Engineering discipline (BEng/Meng preferred)
A strong construction and engineering background, preferably in Water / Wastewater project delivery and design.
