Position: Assistant Accountant
Location: Inverclyde
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 DOE
Are you ready to take the next big step in your finance career? This is your chance to join a forward-thinking organisation and be part of a team driving real change. As an Assistant Accountant, you won't just crunch numbers; you'll play a key role in shaping the financial heartbeat of a business that's investing in its people, its technology, and its future.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious finance professional to build their expertise, gain exposure across the full finance function, and contribute to a growing and evolving organisation where your ideas and initiative will be valued.
What you'll be doing:
- Support the month-end process, preparing and posting journals (including payroll, accruals, and prepayments).
- Complete balance sheet and bank reconciliations with precision to ensure financial accuracy and control.
- Manage revenue recognition and ensure all reporting is timely and accurate.
- Assist with monthly management accounts, departmental budgets, and the annual audit.
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns in line with compliance requirements.
- Handle intercompany charges and reconciliations to maintain accurate group reporting.
- Contribute to the budgeting and forecasting process to support informed decision-making.
- Maintain and update the Fixed Asset Register, ensuring correct depreciation and asset tracking.
- Drive continuous improvement and efficiencies within finance systems and processes.
What we're looking for:
- Solid accounting experience with a good grasp of the numbers and how they drive the business.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive mindset. You spot issues early and enjoy finding better ways to do things.
- Confidence with Excel and finance systems, using them to streamline work and make reporting more efficient.
- Calm under pressure, able to manage tight deadlines and competing priorities without losing focus.
- A clear, confident communicator who builds strong working relationships across teams.
Ready to take the next step? I'd love to hear from you
