Your role and responsibilities 

We are looking for an American or European Diplomate in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia or a residency trained anaesthetist to join our busy team. You will be working in our specialist led multi-disciplinary hospital to provide the highest quality care to patients. We have a team of 2 anaesthesia clinicians, rotating interns and a team of amazing anaesthesia nurses (one VTS holder), who work to provide the highest level of care to pets, their owners and referring vets. Our anaesthetists work closely with our veterinary nurses and the other specialist teams to provide exceptional patient care and analgesia, as well as running a chronic pain clinic. We also work closely with the diplomate led ICU service to optimise perioperative care.

About us 

Paragon is a purpose-built diplomate led multidisciplinary referral hospital. It is situated just outside the City of Wakefield. The centre opened its doors in 2018 so the centre is still new and benefits from its clean and modern design. 

Our extensive, modern facilities allow our teams to deliver the highest quality of care and ensures patients get the best possible treatment.  As a multidisciplinary centre you will work alongside some of the country's leading specialists and be supported by a team of skilled and compassionate veterinary nurses. With our practice being RCVS accredited to Small Animal Veterinary Hospital level, it allows us to provide outstanding levels of care.  The team at Paragon are committed to delivering a first-class service for patients, clients and our referring vet partners.  

The hospital benefits from being close to the beautiful rural Yorkshire countryside yet also has excellent main road links to via the M1 and M62.  We are within easy access of Leeds. The nearest airport is Leeds and Bradford and we are within easy access of Manchester. 

There is plenty to do in the surrounding area for adults, families and children with Yorkshire Sculpture Park, National Trust properties and endless walks either in the Peak District, Yorkshire moors or Yorkshire dales. 

Paragon have an exceptionally friendly team for which you can feel the friendly team atmosphere as soon as you enter the building. They also benefit from having an exceptional nursing team, who all undertake regular training and specific area inductions. The team also comprise of globally recognised diplomates in medicine, oncology, anaesthesia and analgesia, soft tissue surgery, orthopaedics, cardiology, neurology and ECC
