Come join SSJ as a Psychosocial Group Facilitator

Join our innovative, community-based rehab service in Portsmouth and play a pivotal role in transforming lives.

You will be part of a team dedicated to developing and delivering a person-centred recovery service for clients addressing drug and alcohol use. Your work will directly empower people to achieve lasting change within their local community, using a supportive Behaviour Change model and trauma-informed interventions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Group Facilitation: Lead diverse therapeutic and holistic interventions, including ACT groups, Mindfulness, Self Compassion practices, Arts, Crafts, Education, Acupuncture, and Fitness Activities.
  • One-to-One Support: Deliver essential emotional and therapeutic sessions, both in-person and online (via Zoom).
  • Service Coordination: Manage a busy, open-plan service, handling administrative duties (e.g., answering phones) and accurately maintaining daily client records.
  • External Liaison: Attend/arrange multi-agency meetings and collaborate closely with internal and external partners for holistic client care.
  • Client Advocacy & Activity: Organise off-site activities and support people with their appointments and transportation.

Work Hours: This is a full-time role, generally Monday to Friday, but requires flexibility, including working evenings and occasional weekends to meet the needs of the service.

Essential Skills and Qualities

The ideal candidate will possess the confidence, knowledge, and relational skills to manage both therapeutic and administrative responsibilities effectively.

Knowledge & Therapeutic Skills:

  • ACT Model Expertise: Good working knowledge of the Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) model.
  • Confident Group Facilitation: The proven ability to lead and deliver therapeutic groups with confidence and structure.
  • Risk Management: Ability to identify, assess, and manage risk effectively for the safety and welfare of clients.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills:

  • Effective Communication: Excellent listening and communication skills to clearly convey information and build trust.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work constructively and communicate effectively as part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team.
  • Relationship Building: Proven ability to establish and maintain healthy, professional relationships.

Administration & Organisation Skills:

  • Accurate Record-Keeping: Ability to keep accurate, timely, and confidential people records on our database system.
