Are you ready to make a real difference at the very start of a child's learning journey?
We're looking for a motivated, caring, and creative Teaching Assistant to join our wonderful Reception team from January 2026.

At Wood Ley Community Primary School, every day is an adventure in curiosity, discovery, and joy. Our Reception classrooms are full of imagination, from outdoor explorations and messy play to phonics fun and first friendships. We need someone who shares our passion for helping children thrive, both academically and emotionally, in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

You will:

  • work under the guidance of the class teacher to implement agreed work programmes with individuals or groups of pupils to promote effective teaching and learning

  • provide general support to the class teacher in the management and organisation of the pupils and the classroom

  • assist the teacher in creating and maintaining a purposeful, orderly and supportive learning environment.

You will be:

  • a positive, proactive team player with a genuine love for early years learning
  • someone with experience working with young children in school or nursery (EYFS experience essential)
  • someone who can bring motivation, patience, and creativity to every day
  • a good communicator, ready to work closely with teachers and parents to support every child's progress.

You will need:

  • a good standard of education, (GCSE grade C and above) including English and Mathematics 

  • experience of working with children with special or additional needs

  • experience of working in a reception or Early Years school / nursery

  • evidence of personal development, training and qualifications.
