We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced academic, with a keen interest in healthcare leadership and management, to join our growing post graduate community in the peninsula medical school. This is an exciting time for our school as we drive changes to our postgraduate provision, working collaboratively with students and colleagues in the health and care sector. The complexity of practice requires excellent leadership and management to shape the culture, enable change and positively influence healthcare experience and outcomes. Our master's programme aims to contribute to each students journey, enabling them to recognise their talents as healthcare leaders and managers, to have positive impact in practice and fulfil their personal and professional ambitions.

About the role

You will join a team striving to re-imagine, re-design and deliver our masters in healthcare management, leadership and innovation (HMLI). You will employ your professional experience and academic expertise in the teaching and assessment of our students, contributing to their scholarly progression and their ability to impact professional practice. Our students represent a diverse community of health and care professionals who work in varied roles, across the sector (NHS, Independent, Overseas); with your help they will realise their potential. We are passionate about education and our student experience, as well as undertaking research and other forms of enquiry that matters to people and drives change. We take an innovative approach to higher education, incorporating a wide range of teaching modalities across our programmes. Using your expertise you will actively engage our students through a variety of face to face and online learning, you will support students as a personal tutor and have opportunity to supervise dissertations. As an academic with an establish track record of working in higher education, you will take on various leadership roles, for example with admissions, recruitment, module leadership and when required, deputise for the programme lead. Our post graduate community is growing, with HMLI students sharing learning opportunities with our other post graduate programmes.

The post graduate team work collegiately across the medical school, committed to improvement and our school values. This position affords opportunity to engage in research and other scholarly activities. You will have the support of a mentor and line manager and a workload respectful of the part time nature of this appointment. Primarily you will be based in Plymouth, at our North campus (John Bull building close to Derriford Hospital), relocating to the Drake Circus (main campus) where required. Working from home/off campus can also be accommodated, where appropriate.
