Role Purpose:
This is a senior leadership role within the Marine business unit of GE Power Conversion UK Ltd. The Programme Lead will provide executive-level leadership for a strategic, long-term programme of national importance. This role will carry full accountability for delivery, governance, and customer engagement, ensuring commercial success and operational excellence across multiple integrated workstreams.
The position requires significant experience in leading complex programmes within highly regulated environments, with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.
Essential Responsibilities:
The Programme Director will:
- Provide overall strategic leadership for a critical programme central to the UK Marine business, with direct impact on GE Vernova's long-term customer relationships and growth strategy.
- Serve as the primary customer interface at executive level, building trusted partnerships and ensuring consistently high customer satisfaction.
- Lead, mentor, and influence a multi-disciplinary team, including direct and indirect leadership of multiple project managers and functional leads, to ensure delivery of programme milestones.
- Own programme governance, establishing and maintaining control across financial, technical, commercial, and quality dimensions.
- Drive programme execution through structured reviews, ensuring early identification and mitigation of risks, proactive management of change, and robust forecasting of financial and operational performance.
- Represent the business in negotiations with customers, partners, and suppliers on contractual, commercial, and delivery matters.
- Ensure compliance with GE processes, business standards, and regulatory obligations at all times.
- Report progress, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership within GE Vernova, providing clear insight into programme status and strategic implications.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Business, or Project/Programme Management discipline.
- Significant experience in programme management, including ownership of large-scale, multi-year programmes in a customer-facing capacity.
- Demonstrated ability to operate at a strategic level while maintaining strong execution discipline.
- Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams within complex, matrix organisations.
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage and critique programme P&L, cashflow, and commercial models.
- Experience negotiating and managing complex customer contracts and supplier agreements.
- UK nationals only (dual nationality not permitted due to programme requirements).
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to achieve and maintain SC clearance (with potential for higher clearance depending on programme requirements).
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to customer, supplier, and GE sites as required.
