We are looking for a caring, motivated and dedicated, Preschool Lunchtime assistant to join our team. You will play a key role in ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and smooth lunchtime experience for the children in our Preschool. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young children and wants to contribute to their well-being and development.
The position is temporary, fixed term until 18th July 2025. The hours of work are 11am pm, Monday to Friday. Term time only. The hourly rate is £12.21, plus a holiday allowance enhancement.
Our preschool is located in the heart of North Bretton with access to our local surroundings and amenities, with a bus route very close to the setting. Our preschool is purpose built and has an extensive outdoor space . We are very lucky to have a large setting with three spacious rooms with natural, high quality and stimulating resources with a capacity for 60 children. Each room has access to their own well equipped individual gardens to encourage lots of physical play and exploration.
We employ both full and part-time staff; our opening times are 8.30 – 3.00pm, 38 weeks a year and we are closed for public bank holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and assist children during lunchtime, ensuring a positive mealtime experience.
- Encourage good table manners and promote healthy eating habits.
- Support children with feeding where necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the lunch and play areas.
- Engage children in quiet activities after lunch, such as storytelling or calm play.
- Follow health and safety policies, including allergy awareness and first aid procedures.
- Work collaboratively with preschool staff to ensure a nurturing and supportive environment.
Requirements:
- A passion for working with young children.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, kindness, and a caring attitude.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Knowledge of basic food hygiene and safeguarding (training can be provided).
- Previous experience in a childcare or school setting (desirable but not essential).
