Cambridge Kids Club is Cambridge's leading wrap around care provider. We have 13 settings, in and around the City of Cambridge providing the highest quality of care for children aged 4-14 years. Our Breakfast, After School and Holiday Clubs are child led, play based provisions where children are encouraged to follow their own interests in a safe and exciting environment.

Our Playworkers are passionate about what they do. Our clubs are fast paced, busy environments, full of fun and excitement - no two days are ever the same We are currently seeking hard working individuals who have a focus on care & quality and (goes without saying) love working with children.

Main Purpose:

  • To provide a fun, caring and safe environment through a range of individual and group activities, ensuring that children's play opportunities are met
  • To be responsible for the care of all children and be a positive role model
  • To enable the child to develop in different contexts: social, emotional, physical and intellectual through play

Hours of work:

  • Our clubs are open Monday – Friday

  • Your shifts will be a mixture of 7.30am-9am and/or 2.30pm-6pm

  • We can give you shifts to fit around your schedule, therefore we often find that these roles are well suited to students looking to work a few hours in the afternoons

  • Optionally you could work up to 40 hours in holiday club (when the schools are closed), we open from 7.30-6pm during school holidays.

Duties and Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet and greet new and existing children and settle them into activities, as well as giving guided tours to new families
  • Set up play spaces and resources so children can play independently
  • Organise planned activities with the children
  • Prepare and provide snacks for the children
  • Support children's play needs by either joining in or supervising in an unobtrusive manner
  • Light cleaning duties
  • To be supportive of the playleader and put forward new ideas and suggestions
  • Be responsible for the children in your direct area, being aware of their individual needs including medical, dietary and behavioural needs
  • Be aware of changes in children's friendships, proactively encouraging their socialising and play
  • Be aware of safe guarding and child protection
  • To report any concerns or problems to the play leader

Requirements:

  • Level 2 or 3 Qualifications in play work or childcare would be an advantage but not essential. If you are willing to work towards these qualifications, training and development is available.

  • Ability to drive (with a full clear driving license) would be an advantage, but not essential

- We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people. All positions with Cambridge Kids Club are subject to enhanced DBS and barred list checks as well as satisfactory reference checks.

All positions with CKC are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore you are required to declare any convictions, cautions, reprimands and final warnings that are not 'protected'.

Location:

We are specifically looking to recruit for our SHELFORD (CB22) setting.

Willingness to move around to any of our settings within Cambridge City and surrounding villages would be beneficial (CB1, CB2, CB4, CB22, CB23 and CB24), however we can base you at one preferred 'home' setting.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent, Apprenticeship

Pay: £11.58-£15.99 per hour
