'Summary'
The Stores and Logistics Team Leader is responsible for supervising the daily operational activities, managing and motivating the team tasks, and ensuring that all goods are received, stored, and dispatched safely, efficiently, and on time. This role requires a blend of leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills to meet productivity and quality targets.
Key duties and responsibilities
Daily duties are to oversee Stores and Logistics staff functions to cover:
· Receiving and documenting goods: Unloading delivery vehicles, checking incoming shipments against paperwork for accuracy, and inspecting items for any damage or defects. Liaising with Goods Inwards Inspector and Purchasing for discrepancies.
· Storing and organising stock: Moving goods to designated storage areas, stock shelves, and ensuring products are stored safely and in an organised manner, often using a specific inventory system.
· Picking and packing orders: Accurately selecting items from stock based on customer orders and preparing them for shipment, including packing, wrapping, and labeling.
· Shipping and dispatch: Organising shipping, loading packed orders onto delivery trucks or containers, ensuring all necessary documentation (delivery notes, invoices and shipping labels) is prepared correctly for dispatch.
· Inventory control: Performing regular stock cycle counts and assisting with inventory management, often using hand-held scanners or computer software to maintain accurate records and report discrepancies.
· Maintaining a safe and clean environment: Adhering to all workplace health and safety rules, keeping work areas clear of debris and hazards, and performing routine cleaning duties.
· Operating equipment: Safely using warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.

Key skills include:
Leadership skills: Monitor workload, mentor and allocate tasks to the team, clarify and resolveany conflict which may arise. Escalate when required.
- Teamwork and communication skills: The job involves collaborating with colleagues in Purchasing, supervisors, and drivers, making good verbal and written communication important.
- Physical fitness: The role has some physical demands, requiring the ability to stand for periods of time, walk around the site, and lift heavy objects.
- Attention to detail: Essential for accurate order picking, inventory management, and quality control to minimize errors.
- Organisational and time management skills: The ability to prioritise tasks and manage workload efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliability and flexibility: A strong work ethic and the willingness to adapt to changing priorities and work patterns
- Computer literacy: Familiarity with warehouse management systems, handheld devices, and basic software for tracking stock and processing orders.
Typical Work Environment
Work Schedule: Hours can vary depending on the workload. Standard hours are 40 hours per week five days per week (day shifts), however some overtime and flexibility may be required as requested and agreed by the business.
Education & Experience
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Outlook Calendar)
- MRP systems- Warehousing and logistics processes
- Level 3 qualifications relevant to role
- Previous leadership experience 2-5 years
- Workload measurements and monitoring
- Forklift licence (an advantage)
- Valid and relevant driver's licence (HGV an advantage)
