Headteacher

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that the quality of learning is at the centre of the organisation and management of the school, its pupils, staff and resources.
  • Seeking and securing adequate resources and ensuring that they are effectively administered and controlled.
  • Supporting the Business Manager in developing the annual and three-year budget plans in line with school priorities.
  • Monitoring and reviewing the use of premises and resources to maintain an efficient, safe and values-driven learning environment.
  • Producing and implementing clear, evidence-based development plans that respond to changing requirements and priorities.
  • Recruiting, retaining and deploying staff appropriately while managing workload to achieve the school's vision and goals.
  • Managing and developing the leadership team, ensuring effective delegation and strong professional relationships.
  • Creating an environment that values staff achievements, encourages ideas and promotes high morale.
  • Ensuring the effectiveness of induction, appraisal and professional development systems to maintain high standards.
  • Ensuring that the curriculum is broad, balanced, diverse and flexible, offering opportunities for all pupils to succeed.
  • Creating conditions for creative and effective teaching that develops enthusiastic, independent learners.
  • Setting challenging progress targets, maintaining robust assessment and reporting systems, and sustaining a consistent focus on pupil achievement through data and benchmarks.
  • Maintaining strategies that secure high standards of behaviour and attendance.
  • Developing strong partnerships with parents, carers, community stakeholders and external agencies to support learning and wellbeing.
  • Ensuring that communication between the school and its community is effective, appropriate and has a positive impact on pupil outcomes.

Skills and Experience

  • Appropriate educational and professional qualifications, including NPQH.
  • Proven evidence of success and ongoing professional development throughout their career.
  • Recent experience of the curriculum in English schools.
  • A demonstrable track record of leading change, improvement and achieving excellence in a comparable organisation.
  • Consistently high standards of principled and professional conduct aligned with national standards and public service values.
  • Experience of developing leadership capacity, accountability and effective quality-assurance systems.
  • Evidence of successfully promoting innovation in teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Strong ability to build excellent relationships with pupils, staff, parents and wider stakeholders.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with community partners, agencies and external organisations.
  • Skill in using target setting, data analysis and curriculum development to improve outcomes.
  • Experience of building successful relationships with a governing body and sustaining productive partnerships.
  • Experience of leading strategic resources, including finance, HR and ICT.
  • Strong strategic and creative leadership skills grounded in up-to-date educational knowledge and current national priorities.
  • In-depth knowledge of strategies that maintain high standards of attainment, behaviour and attendance.
  • Personal qualities, including resilience, decisiveness, creativity, empathy, the ability to motivate others and a commitment to involvement in all aspects of school life.

Salary:
L31–37 | £108,202 – £125,345 per annum.

Moulton, Northamptonshire, NN3 7SD.
