About us, we provide Short Breaks to children and young people who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Our statutory duty is to provide short breaks for disabled children in line with the Breaks for Carers of Disabled Children Regulations 2011.
This is a versatile role where no day is the same, you may be working one to one with a child to meet their needs in community settings or leading a group of children in a play activity. Working at Short Breaks will give you the opportunity to be part of a team helping shape and develop our local short break offer.
The role, we are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Short Breaks Support Officer to support our children and young people who access Short Breaks within the community or within our dedicated building, Blossom Lodge.
We are looking for a resilient, creative and versatile individual who will be prepared to work flexibly on a rota that includes every other weekend and bank holidays, which attract salary enhancements.
Applicants are required to have some knowledge of disabilities and be able to support children and young people with their personal, social, emotional, physical and health care needs.
Applicants will assist in the design of innovative and creative play opportunities and sessions to maximise opportunities for disabled children and young people to achieve their potential. You must have a good general education and be willing and able to undertake relevant training.
Applicants should have a minimum Level 2 qualification in a relevant field such as childcare, health and social care or sports related, with the ability to complete a Level 3 qualification.
