Mobile Mechanical/Electrical Maintenance Engineer (Northern)
Location: Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds
We are seeking an experienced & highly skilled Mobile Mechanical/ Electrical maintenance engineer with a bias towards electrical to expand our team to the Northern region.
The candidate would have a good all-round knowledge of maintaining electrical services & building mechanical plant across commercial & industrial sectors. The candidate would be expected to attend client sites to complete planned maintenance tasks as per SFG20 PPM schedules, complete the necessary paperwork to support this & ensure compliance. Complete electrical & mechanical quoted & reactive work.
A proportion of the engineers work will be outside of normal working hours & call out attendance will be part of the job role. There is a responsibility to provide sufficient information to allow the office to quote further works & projects.
As a mobile engineer working within a small team of engineers nationwide, you would be expected to work well with others & equally fault find & problem solve alone. The successful applicant will have flexibility around their diary & would be expected to manage their time accordingly to complete the day's scheduled work. The candidate would be client facing & would need suitable skills to communicate well with both clients & office.
Key Responsibilities:
● Perform both preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems, equipment, and plant;
● Maintain detailed records of work carried out, including maintenance logs, parts used, and time spent on tasks, full & thorough completion of service documents;
● Fault finding & repairs of Electrical & Mechanical systems/equipment;
● Carry out electrical installations, wiring, and commissioning of new equipment or systems;
● Provide technical support and guidance to clients or customers when necessary, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction;
● Communicate effectively with clients about maintenance schedules, issues, and resolutions.
Qualifications (Desirable):
● Electrical or Mechanical Engineering certifications (e.g., City & Guilds, 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations, etc.);
● Electrical Initial & Periodic Inspection & testing (City & Guilds 2391);
● Health and Safety certifications (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH);
● Legionella Awareness
Experience:
● Proven experience in a similar role as a mechanical and electrical maintenance engineer, ideally in a mobile/field-based position;
● Experience with mechanical systems, including pumps, motors, air conditioning systems, and compressors;
● Previous experience in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical and electrical issues in industrial or commercial environments.
Skills:
● Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical maintenance procedures and best practices;
● Ability to work independently and manage a variety of tasks effectively;
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients and team members;
Working Conditions:
