PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

This 12-month maternity cover role which sits at the heart of East West Connect's Finance Department. This is a hands-on role where you will manage accounts payable and receivable, support month-end and year-end closing, assist with budgeting and forecasting, and ensure the accuracy of our financial records.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with the Senior Finance Manager and Finance Director, gain exposure to a variety of financial processes, and develop their career in a professional finance environment.

This role is ideal for someone with an AAT qualification, who is studying ACCA or ACA, and wants to progress in accounting and finance within a UK context.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Prepare, review, and reconcile financial documents including invoices, bills, and ledgers.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes efficiently.
  • Supervise and support the Assistant Accountant and Accounts Support Team.
  • Assist HR/Payroll with monthly payroll processing.
  • Prepare and maintain cash flow statements and regular financial reports.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Complete and check daily bank reconciliations.
  • Record and post financial transactions accurately in accounting software.
  • Manage company ledgers and ensure financial records are up to date.
  • Process business expenses, verify bank deposits, and monitor office costs.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits.
  • Post daily receipts and manage debtors and creditors reporting.
  • Handle accruals, prepayments, and other monthly financial tasks.
  • Support year-end closing and reporting, ensuring accuracy in all financial statements.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in accounts and reports.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Person Specification)

  • AAT qualification required.
  • Studying for ACCA or ACA is highly desirable.
  • A university degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline is an advantage.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar accounting role.
  • Experience in a UK accountancy practice is a plus.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a finance team.
  • Analytical and proactive, with strong problem-solving abilities.
